How a Laser Rangefinder Works
Bushnell's Yardage Pro rangefinders use an invisible, eye-safe Class 1 Laser beam (as classified by the FDA) which is "bounced" off distant objects with the press of a button. Then, the rangefinder's high-speed digital clock measures the time it took for a laser beam to reach a target and return to the unit. Next, using advanced digital electronics, the rangefinder instantly calculates the distance within ±1 yard and shows the range in either yards or meters on a through-the-lens LCD Display. The entire process is so fast that less than a second elapses between the time you press the button to generate a laser beam to the time the exact range to your target is displayed.

The ultimate laser rangefinder for tournament play and avid golfers, the Bushnell Tour V2 rangefinder combines compact size with serious power, helping you figure out distances to the green within seconds. The Tour V2 is equipped with Bushnell's PinSeeker technology, which precisely isolates your target to improve accuracy and eliminate false readings. The result? You can easily figure out the distance to flags tucked in the deepest corners of the green despite background clutter that might befuddle lesser rangefinders. Regardless of how many deep bunkers and perilous water hazards are on the course, the Tour V2 gives you the distance information you need to make smart, safe shots. And thanks to the Tour V2's impressive 5- to 1,000-yard range--which is accurate to plus or minus 1 yard--no hazard is out of bounds.
![]() The Tour V2 displays the distance to your target on the LCD readout. |
A game of inches becomes a game of yards if your rangefinder gives false readings. The problem with most ranging devices is that the target is constantly competing with the larger objects that surround it. These larger objects, such as trees, contain greater signal strength and provide more reflectivity than the target, resulting in false distance readings. So what are you really aiming at? To overcome these limitations, Bushnell created PinSeeker technology, which ensures accurate target acquisitions by isolating your target and completely shutting out background hazards. When your rangefinder senses more than one object, the closer of the two is displayed so that the desired distance is calculated every time within plus or minus 1 yard.
Bushnell's laser rangefinders use an invisible, eye-safe Class 1 laser beam (as classified by the FDA), which is "bounced" off distant objects with the press of a button. Next, the rangefinder's high-speed digital clock measures the time it took for the laser to reach the target and return to the unit. Finally, using advanced digital electronics, the rangefinder instantly calculates the distance and shows the range in either yards or meters on a through-the-lens LCD display. The entire process is so fast that less than a second elapses between the time you press the button to generate a laser beam to the time the exact range to your target is displayed.
![]() The rangefinder's Slope mode reads the slope angle and adjusts your club length accordingly. |
The Tour V2 offers three targeting modes. PinSeeker mode is designed exclusively with the bottom of the cup in mind, allowing you to easily acquire the flag without inadvertently capturing background target distances. The Scan mode, meanwhile, allows you to pan across the landscape while viewing a continuously updated LCD display of the distances between you and the targets you scan with the viewfinder. And golfers can use the Slope mode to measure the angle within plus or minus 1 degree. The rangefinder will then compensate the distance based upon the ball trajectory and type of club used.
Other features include a reticle option that shows the distance of targets in the crosshairs, a 5x magnification level, a 3-volt lithium battery, a battery indicator that flashes when the battery is low, and a custom high-tack grip that rivals the grip on your favorite driver. The Tour V2 carries a two-year warranty.

Level the ups and downs in your quest for perfection. Built in the legacy of our venerable PinSeeker 1500, the Pro 1600 is the world's only golf laser rangefinder to compensate for the changes in elevation. Using a digital inclinometer, it determines distance based on the degree of elevation change. It doesn't just tell you how far-it tells you exactly how far to play it. So you'll never again question the range at the top of your swing. And nothing cuts strokes, and eliminates the peaks and valleys of your game, like confidence. Frequently Asked Questions About Bushnell's Rangefinders:
Q: Is my laser rangefinder waterproof?
A: All models are water resistant with the exception of Pro 1600 Pinseeker Rangefinder. It is 100% waterproof and can be submerged in water and even floats. Treat the water resistant models much the same as you would a digital camera.
Q: Are the laser rangefinders eye safe?
A: Absolutely, all Yardage Pro products are well within the eye safety limits established by the FDA for Class 1 laser products.
Q: How accurate are Yardage Pro products?
A: All of the Bushnell Laser Rangefinders are accurate to +/- 1 yard.
Q: Can I use my rangefinder on a course that doesn't have reflectors on the pins?
A: Reflectors are not required to use your rangefinder on golf courses. However, they will enhance the effectiveness of your Bushnell Rangefinder.
Q: Is it permissible to use the rangefinder under USGA Rules of Golf?
A: All of our non-Slope units are designed to be permissible when the Local Rule permitting the use of distance-measuring devices is in effect. This is governed by the USGA’s Decision as it relates to Distance Measuring Devices (14-3/0.5 Local Rule Permitting Use of Distance-Measuring Device), which sets forth that players are allowed to use these in rounds conducted under the Rules of Golf when the Committee adopts the Local Rule, as long as they only measure distance. Additionally, the USGA Handicap System manual (Decision 5-1f/2) sets forth that scores made using these distance-only measuring devices are acceptable for handicap purposes, whether or not the Local Rule is in effect.
Q: What are the spots in my monocular?
A: You are actually viewing through an LCD (liquid crystal display). The spots you see are on the surface of the LCD, which in turn is magnified 14X. The LCD’s are built in a clean room; however tiny unseen flaws (to the naked eye) do occur. Also during the installation into the monocular dust will sometimes settle on the surface and many times the dust then cannot be blown off the LCD. Bushnell is working feverishly on the quality of the LCD, but that technology is not mature enough to accommodate our requirements. The spots in no way affect the ranging performance of the device. We realize that our customers have come to expect immaculate optics from Bushnell and be assured that we are working toward that goal.
Q: How far will the Yardage Pro range?
A: These are excellent questions and probably by far our most frequently asked questions. Unfortunately, a quick answer cannot be given. There are many variables that contribute to the ranging performance: Weather conditions - rain, dust, and high humidity will limit the ranging capabilities. Lighting conditions - low light gives the best ranging conditions. Target size - the bigger the target, the better chances of ranging to it. Target reflectivity - Brighter targets, such as white, ranges great; black colored objects range poorly. Target surface - The actual material of the target will affect the range performance - a flat, smooth sign is much easier to range than a matty haired animal. Angle of Incidence - The angle at which the laser hits the target also makes a difference - the closer you are to reflecting the laser off the target at a 90 degree angle, the further you can range. Hand steadiness - this factor will obviously vary from person to person. You think you have a steady hand? Try holding a laser pen pointer steady on a wall 30 feet away. You will be surprised at the amount of movement. The laser is the same way. It illuminates a bigger spot than the pen pointer but you are ranging 1000 feet or more. It doesn't take much movement to have the laser on a different target than what you intend. This will become even more of a factor as people upgrade to longer ranging devices.
Q: What type of battery do the Yardage Pros use? How long will a battery last?
A: This varies by model. See the product grid to determine battery type for your model. A fresh battery should give you 5,000 distances before replacing. But we recommend you replace the battery once a year whether you feel it needs it or not. Bushnell recommends Eveready, Duracell, or similar quality batteries.

Bushnell's Yardage Pro rangefinders use an invisible, eye-safe Class 1 laser beam (as classified by the FDA), which is "bounced" off distant objects at the press of a button. In the process, the rangefinder uses a high-speed digital clock to measure the time it took for the laser beam to reach the target and return, and then calculates the distance within plus-or-minus 1 yard. The entire process is so fast that less than a second elapses between the time you press the button and the time the exact range appears. The information appears on the Sport 450's through-the-lens LCD display.
Because rangefinders bounce laser beams off targets in order to take measurements, their range is partially determined by the target's reflectivity. So distances to reflective or "hard" targets like rock cliffs and semis can be measured from farther away than those to soft-surface targets such as deer. Ranges for moderately reflective targets, like trees, fall somewhere in the middle. Most experienced hunters will use their rangefinder to estimate ranges to near and distant landmarks before they actually encounter a game animal. By pre-measuring ranges to spots where trophies are likely to appear, they can concentrate on making an accurate shot when the moment of truth arrives.

When it comes to ranging distance and ballistic capability, the Bushnell Legend 1200 ARC laser rangefinder with Realtree camo packs a ton of power into a handy, easy-to-use, camouflaged package. The Legend 1200 ARC--which comes in a compact vertical body--offers instant distance readings of up to 1,200 yards. As a result, you can easily identify game from across the prairie or through a dense forest. The rangefinder also offers both Bow and Rifle modes. In Bow mode, the rangefinder will eliminate traditional bow guesswork by providing the true horizontal distance to the target from 5 to 99 yards. In Rifle mode, the Legend 1200 ARC gives you bullet drop/holdover data in inches from 100 to 800 yards, in effect telling you where to hold the scope. It's like having two different rangefinders in one.
That's just the beginning, as the Legend 1200 ARC also offers Angle Range Compensation (ARC). ARC accounts for the terrain angle when calculating distance, so you know precisely how to adjust your shot when facing extreme uphill or downhill angles. Geared for close-range use, the BullsEye mode acquires the distances of small targets and game without inadvertently measuring background target distances. When more than one object is acquired, the Legend 1200 Arc's LCD display shows the closer of the two objects. The unit also offers a Brush mode, which ignores brush, boulders, and tree branches in the foreground, and a Scan mode that surveys the course while continuously update the distance between you and your target.
And weather is never an issue thanks to the Legend 1200 ARC's fully waterproof construction and RainGuard HD anti-fog technology. The RainGuard HD coating breaks up moisture even faster and more effectively than the original RainGuard formula, and adds a slicker surface to help clear elements on the lens easier and faster. Additional details include a built-in digital inclinometer that measures angles from -90 to 90 degrees within 1 degree of accuracy; a pocket-sized ergonomic design with a textured rubber grip; and such accessories as a carrying case, battery, and neck strap.
